Most of you will know this spooky tale, but I will just give you a brief outline of the story: The Doctor and Leela land
in the Tardis, on a remote rocky island on Earth circa 1890! Here they discover a lighthouse and stumble into one of
the spookiest Dr Who stories ever written!
The Fang Rock lighthouse, as it is known, has just had Electricity installed, and Ruben (the keeper) and the crew are still
getting used to it. Shortly before the Doctors arival, a mysterious fog rises and the lighthouse horn is sounded...In the
generator room there is a geen glow and an unearthly cracking sound...
I wont give away too much of the story hear, as some readers may have never watched it and I'm a firm beliver in NO SPOILERS!!!
It had to be my number one favorite of all time becase the story flows rather like a horror or traditional ghost story, and
the dim, gloomy scenes inside the lighthouse add to its eerie feel.
Interestingly enough, this is the story where Louise Jameson was allowed to loose the brown contact lenses, she had to
wear for the part of Leela...but you will have to see the story to find out how and why!!! |

CAVES OF ANDROZANI
Transmission date : 8th - 16th March 1984
Produced bt John Nathan-Turner
Directed by Graeme Harper
Written by Robert Holmes
Now I had better tread carefully hear, as this is the superb story that comes in almost everyone's top 3 Dr
Who stories! So please...if I make a mistake or I write somthing you disagree with, remember these are only my personal opionions.
If you wish to email me, please do, and I will take note of all comments!
Again I am not going to give away much of the story so our younger fans can enjoy this tale, spoiler free!
This is just a very brief outline and some of my personal feelings on this wonderfull tale!
The Doctor and Peri find themselves in the middle of an underground war, on an alien planet. As they begin
to explore the caves they stumble into a large sticky ball known as a Spectrox nest. Spectrox is the most valuable substance
in the universe as it rejuivinates the user, restoring lost youth...when it is refined...in its raw state it is deadly...and
the Doctor and Peri only have hours to live!!!!!
There are huge undertones of Phantom of the Opera hear, as well as an anti drugs message. But this fantastic
story has somthing for everyone...and a must for all Doctor Who fans! |

This was the very first Doctor Who story to scare the living daylights out of me when I was 5!!...and that was in the
first few minuites!!
Set in the small Welsh mining town of Llanfairfach, where a number of deaths at the old mine have happened. Enter the
Doctor to investigate, along with his comapnion Jo Grant! Nearby there are mysterious goings on at Global Chemicles and the
Doctor begins to make some connections...
This was the final story to star the lovely Katy Manning as Jo...it is also a story was a very strong anti-pollution
message and some very ingenius effects using animal jaw bones.... |

PLANET OF THE SPIDERS!
Transmission date: May - June 1974
Directed by Barry Letts
Written by Robert Sloman
This is the final, and very dramatic story that sees Jon Pertwee as the Doctor!. What starts out
as a simple experiment in ESP, turns into a battle of witts between the Doctor and the giant Spiders of Meteblis 3. The
planet that the Doctor aquired a blue crystal that amplifies though processes.
The story is set in a Tibetan retreat where a chanting brotherhood have unwittingly summoned a scout
spider who quickly takes over the mind of Lupton, the group leader...will Sarah Jane suffer the same fate, as the spiders
relentlessly hunt for their blue crystal...The Doctor must travel to Metebelis 3 and commune with the spiders, although his
fate will eventually be sealed by THE GREAT ONE..............?
This superbe story is filled to the brim with action and see's our good Doctor involved in a chase compleate
with hovercraft and Gyrocopter!! Its very much Doctor Who meets 007!!!...and will have you on the very edge of your seat!! |

THE MIND ROBBER!
Transmission date: 14th September - 12 October 1968
Produced by Peter Bryant
Directed by David Maloney
Written by Peter Ling
This story really goes to prove that low budget dose not mean terrible story!! The
BBC were even an actor down when Fraizer Heinz fell ill and they quickly had to find away round his absence...watch the
story to find out, but its very cleaver!!
The cliffhanger starts at the begining when the Tardis gets caught in a volcanic eruption
on te planet, Dulkis. The Only way out is for the Doctor to take the Tardis out of space/ time and into an unreal, unknown
filled with fairy-tale charicters and very errie robots...as well as somthing more sinister!!...The Doctor, Jamie and Zoe
(in "that" cat-suit!) have to fight for reality, as well as figuring out how to escape...a fantasy!!!
The story by Peter Ling, really sparkles! and puts you on edge from the start. From
start to finish I could use one word to describe this story "sinister"...

The Five Doctors!
Transmission date : 25th November 1983
Produced by John Nathan-Turner
Directed by Peter Moffatt
Written by Terrance Dicks
This 90 minuite special was broardcast to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Dr Who...and what a celebration
it was!!! 5 Doctors battling, Daleks, Cybermen, Yeti, and the wonderufll Raston Warrior robot!...as well as the Master, portrayed
superbly by Anthony Ainley. The first Doctors roll was played by Richard Hundell and he carried off the charicter of the grumpy
first Doctor, to perfection. Also, sadly, Tom Baker was unavailable for filming so the BBC used slices of the unscreened "Shada"
to fill the gaps of the missing 4th Doctor...
The story centers on each of the Doctors incarnations being taken out of their time-streams, and placed
in the Death Zone on Gallifrey...But who is behind this horrible plan, and why? Each of the Doctors must travel to the Dark
Tower , the Tomb of Rassilon and try to get some answers as to why they have been brought together to battle old
foes, en route...The secret lies within the High Council of Gallifrey, where a timelord has hatched a hideous plan so he can
rule forever!!! |

The Robots of Death!
Transmission date: 29th January - 19th February 1977
Produced by Phillip Hinchcliffe
Directed by Michael Briant
Written by Chris Boucher
This was the only Dr Who story to give me nightmares, and rather a lots of sleepless nights, when I
was nine!! To this day I still find the sinister robots very spooky, and everytime I watch this story the hairs stand up on
the back of my neck...this is the stuff nightmares are made of...
Set on a desert planet, aboard a Sandminer, collecting Lukanol, one of the most valuable substances
in the universe...we see the Doctor and Leela arrive in the middle of several mysterious crew deaths. One by one, the crew
are being murdered and the Doctor and Leela are the number one suspects. No one suspects the crew of Voc robots that man the
sandminer! But is it just the robots? As the story unravels it appears that the Robots are the least of the Doctors worries!
A mad scientist is on board, masked as a crew member, and he has a bloodthirsty and power crazed, agender !!... |
